Recent Development
The Regulation Amending the Regulation on the Payment of Salaries, Bonuses, Premiums and Any Other Similar Receivables Through Banks (“Regulation”), was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Türkiye dated 4 June 2025 and numbered 32920. The Regulation revises the scope of the obligation requiring employers to make salary and similar payments to their employees via bank transfer.
What Does the Regulation Amend?
With the Regulation, employers’ obligation to pay salaries, bonuses, premiums and all similar entitlements to employees through bank transfers, previously applicable to those employing at least five employees in Türkiye, has been extended to include employers with three or more employees. Accordingly, as of 1 July 2025, all employers with three or more employees will be obliged to make such payments only through bank transfers.
Conclusion
The Regulation aims to include employees working in small-scale workplaces in a secure and registered payment system through banks. Employers should consider reviewing their payment systems to adapt to these new regulations
